The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath clears that the name of the Jama Masjid metro station will be Mankameshwar Mandir station. On Wednesday, CM Yogi flagged off the high speed trial run of Agra Metro at Taj East Gat metro station in Fatehabad. This metro service will open to the public from 2024.
With the expectation of gaining the attention of the people, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government indicates that the name changing will continue with spree following demands by saffron outfits.
This name changing metro station led to the debate on Agra city as Jama Masjid metro station to Mankameshwar Mandir station.
“A committee should be formed to change the name of any city, metro or bus stand. The name should be changed only after the permission of the committee. But the way the ruling government keeps changing names gives rise to a controversy.
The name of no metro station in Agra has been changed except Jama Masjid metro station so far. If anyone had any objection, then it never came in the public domain nor any newspaper,” Naresh Paras, an RTI activist based in Agra, told to news click.
According to the government, the demand for name changing of Jama Masjid metro station started last year. Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya had also permitted to change the name of Jama Masjid metro station to Mankameshwar Mandir station.
This will make sure that if anyone has a problem with this name changing places then they will not share their opinion public and no media or newspaper print it.
