Over five years after her passing, on August 13, 2023, Sridevi will be 60. The Google Doodle will honor her as one of the most recognizable Indian actresses with memorable performances in Mr. India and English Vinglish, among other notable films.

Shree Amma Yanger Ayyappan was Sridevi’s full name; she was born on August 13, 1963, in the small Tamil Nadu village of Meenampatti. The actress made her cinematic debut at the young age of four, launching her career as a performer at an early age.

Sridevi made her acting debut at the young age of four in the Tamil movie Kandhan Karunai, which also starred Jayalalitha. She also made her Bollywood debut as a child actor in Rani Mera Naam at the age of nine, gradually establishing herself as a well-known actress in the business.

After working as a child artist for several years, Sridevi made her Bollywood acting debut in the film Solva Saawan with Amol Palekar, and at just 19 years old, she appeared in Himmatwala with Jeetendra.

Sridevi rose to fame thanks to Himmatwala, one of the highest-grossing Hindi movies of the year. She appeared in 16 films together Jeetendra since there was no stopping the Bollywood actress at this point. She won the Best Actress award from Filmfare for her performance in Sadma, which received positive reviews.

Sridevi went on to play significant roles in English Vinglish and Mom in the latter stages of her career after giving iconic performances in Mr. India, Nagina, and Chandni. But her professional life eventually came to an unexpected and devastating end.

Sridevi passed away on February 24, 2018, at the Jumeirah Emirates Tower in Dubai, where her husband Boney Kapoor discovered her in the bathtub of her hotel room. Her premature death was initially thought to be a case of cardiac arrest, but the cause of death was later revealed to be “accidental drowning,” which raised a significant mystery.
