The Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 passed in Lok Sabha on Monday, introduced by our Indian Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on August 3. This act is an empower to protect data of government and citizens from social media companies which are doing unfair practices by using public data.
It is necessary to execute strictness, rules and regulations on social media companies to secure personal data. These social media companies will be working under this new data protection act. Any organisation needs to take the user’s permission while posting any personal information related to that user.
Penalty will be imposed, if that organisation failed in this. This act clearly gives a message to the businesses about the importance of data privacy and security. The fine will be imposed ranging between Rs. 50 crores to 250 crores, if they misuse anyone’s personal data without his/her permission.
The Data Protection Board (DPB)
This board is formed after this new bill which will be dealing with personal data violation. The board will be empowered to suggest the removal or barring the content in digital platforms. This will create a huge impact on the internet and social media companies. Under this new Data Protection Act 2023, the personal data should only be used for lawful purposes.
This Data Protection Bill 2023 will help to protect the data of the government and citizens of India. It is restricted to the social media companies to not violate anyone’s personal data. If any organisation finds guilt or violating this act, they will give a fine of Rs. 50 crores to 250 crores.
