Om Birla, the speaker of the Lok Sabha, has conveyed his concern with the frequent interruptions in Congress. According to sources close to the Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla won’t attend meetings unless members of the house conduct themselves in a way that upholds the dignity of the chamber.

Due to noisy protests, today’s Lok Sabha proceedings were postponed, and Speaker Om Birla skipped Wednesday morning’s proceedings.

The behavior of the Treasury and Opposition benches during the passage of bills in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday reportedly incensed Speaker Om Birla.

According to Parliament insiders quoted by news agency, the Speaker’s unhappiness over the continuous interruptions in Parliament has been communicated to both the opposition and treasury benches.

According to the officials, the Speaker values the House’s dignity and expects its members to behave properly while it is in session.

The opposition members’ ongoing demonstrations regarding the Manipur issue interrupted the Lok Sabha’s business on Wednesday. During Question Hour, a large number of opposition members were chanting and holding signs in the House’s well.

The situation in Manipur, which has been impacted by months of ethnic violence, was the subject of demands from the opposition for a response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

After some time, the Om Birla, the speaker of the Lok Sabha, has conveyed his concern with the frequent interruptions in Congress session was suspended. This prevented the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023 from being debated or put to a vote.
