IMD Issues alert in these States:
Early on Wednesday, areas of Delhi-NCR were hit hard by heavy rains as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow advisory for the majority of the national capital’s regions. Generally overcast. In its weather report, the IMD predicted “moderate rain/thundershowers.
” Numerous main roadways became flooded as a result of the heavy rain that fell in places like Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram.
On Wednesday, heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is anticipated in areas of Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana in addition to Delhi. On Wednesday morning, it rained in Mumbai, where an orange alert has been issued.
Pune, Ratnagiri, Raigad, and Satara districts of Maharashtra are under a red alert, meaning there will be heavy to very heavy rainfall in a few locations with extremely severe rainfall in isolated locations, while Mumbai is under an orange alert, meaning there will be heavy to very heavy rainfall in most locations.
On July 26, all schools and institutions in Raigad were closed as a result of the warning for heavy rainfall.
In Karnataka, an orange alert has been issued in Belgaum, Shimoga, and Udupi, and a red alert has been issued in Uttar Kannada and Chikmagalur. In several areas of Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka, the IMD has issued a flash flood bulletin, according to the Chief Minister’s office.
Late Tuesday, the Karnataka chief minister’s Twitter account wrote, “To ensure safety, District Commissioners have declared holidays for schools and colleges in the vulnerable regions and it is advised for all citizens to adhere to the instructions of local administration.”
While a number of other areas, including Prakasam, Visakhapatnam, and Srikakulam, are on orange alert in Andhra Pradesh, Sri Alluri Sitharamraju, West Godavari, NTR District, Palnadu, Kurnool, and Nandyal are on red alert.
On Wednesday, there is also anticipated to be heavy to very heavy rainfall in a number of locations in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. In these states, the IMD has issued a yellow notice.
Telangana’s Peddapalle, Karimnagar, Warangal, Mahabubabad, Khammam, Vikarabad, and Nalgoda have all been placed on red alert. Nizamabad, Mulugu, and Sangareddy among other places have all received an orange alert.
Sabita Indra Reddy, the state’s minister of education, was given orders by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to impose a two-day holiday (July 26–27) on all state-run educational institutions. Earlier, a news outlet stated that “immediate orders are to be issued in this regard.”
On Wednesday, significant rain is also anticipated throughout much of South and Coastal Odisha, with some areas perhaps seeing very heavy rain. In some areas of Odisha, there is an orange alert.
According to Umashankar Das, Senior Scientist at IMD in Bhubaneswar, fishermen have been told not to go near the coast until July 27.
