Gyanvapi Mosque:

Sunday saw the continuation of the Archaeological examination of India’s (ASI) ‘non-invasive’ scientific examination inside Varanasi’s Gyanvapi Mosque, which is adjacent to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, to ascertain whether the shrine was built over an earlier construction. As a result of the Supreme Court of India’s decision to not delay the Allahabad High Court judgement authorizing the ASI survey, this was the third day of the survey.

Although not a full idol, the Hindu side’s attorneys claimed on Saturday that ASI had discovered pieces of the same during the survey. It should be emphasized that no such official declaration has been issued by the ASI.

On Sunday, the Muslim side issued a warning, stating that if the Hindu side propagated “rumors” that idols, “trishul,” and “kalash” were discovered during the survey of the “tahkhaanaa” (basement), on that day, they would boycott the survey, which they had joined after refraining to do so on Friday.

In the Gyanvapi mosque survey, attorney Mumtaz Ahmad spoke for the Muslim side and issued a warning against rumors and a request for investigation from the authorities. He categorically denied reports that idol fragments had been discovered among the complex’s ruins.

“There’s my representative over there…” Even in locations where a survey has not yet been conducted, there are rumors that an idol or a trident have been discovered (within the Gyanvapi mosque). There will be a frenzy when people see this… Ahmad advised the administration to look into this because it is their responsibility to uphold law and order.

On Saturday, the survey work was conducted using the Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS), among other methods and equipment, according to Sudhir Tripathi, one of the spokespeople for the Hindu side.

According to him, the Hindu side is pleased with the survey’s initial results.

The Varanasi court has given the ASI an additional four weeks to finish their survey in the meantime.

The Muslim side and its supporters participated in the survey on Sunday for a second day, according to Syed Mohammad Yasin, the Joint Secretary of the Anjuman Intezamia Committee, which oversees the mosque.

According to Yasin, the Muslim side will once more boycott the survey work if such acts are not stopped. This was reported by PTI.
