Ghamandiya Alliance: PM Modi says on criticism of the Opposition

On August 12, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was blunt in his criticism of the Opposition’s recent “ghamandiya” (arrogant) alliance, accusing them of cowardice during a motion of no-confidence. Last Monday, this resolution in the Lok Sabha that questioned his leadership was soundly defeated.

Modi described the dramatic events in Parliament when addressing the Kshetriya Panchayati Raj Parishad in West Bengal via video conference. He said that the Opposition abandoned their own motion midway through because they couldn’t bear the thought of a vote.

The opposition was actually afraid to vote on a motion of no confidence, according to the reality. “If there had been voting, the ‘ghamandiya’ alliance would have been revealed,” Prime Minister Modi was reported as stating by ANI.

On July 26, a motion of no confidence was introduced, led by the opposition. Tensions between the government and opposition sides erupted throughout the ensuing three-day debate, particularly in relation to topics like the violence in Manipur.

In an unexpected turn of events, opposition party members walked out as PM Modi addressed the Lok Sabha in response to the resolution of no-confidence. Many interpreted the action as a subliminal admission of defeat.

“You all have gathered in West Bengal, and a few days ago I had the chance to speak with ‘Sthaniya Swaraj’ delegates in Haryana. No matter how busy I am, I find time for my party, just like our national president (JP Nadda) said,” PM Modi continued.

PM Modi praised his administration’s efforts to strengthen local governance through the Panchayati Raj and emphasized the allocation of more than 2 lakh crore, which is three times more than what was provided by the previous administration, for Panchayati Raj bodies.
