On Wednesday, the crowd in Bihar’s Katihar district were protesting for the poor power supply. One person was killed and two were critically injured due to the opening fire of police to disperse the crowd, news agency PTI reported.
According to the SP of Barsoi sub–division, Prem Nath Ram, police started firing when the protesters threw stone on them. The identification of dead person had been found as 34 years old named Khurshid Alam, a resident of Baasal village and the other two injured persons due to rush were took to the hospital, police said.
The SP of katihar’s district, Jitendra Kumar said heavy forces of police have been made to maintain law and order in the area.
Local people claimed that five people were hit by the bullet at the protest site, PTI reported. Taking favour of Nitish Kumar who is in the position of government in Bihar. Samrat Choudhary, BJP leader told ANI.
“Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar’s government lathi-charged those asking for the 10 lakh government jobs. Now, in his ‘Raj’, on demanding electricity, people are being shot…No good governance, no facilities for the public. This is a government of atrocities…There is no hope left.”
Former CM of Bihar, Tarkishore Prasad reacted to the incident. He said that “Bihar government has failed in every aspect. People were protesting over power cuts, but the police opened fire that led to the death of one person.”
