TMKOC News:
Asit Kumar Modi was accused of sexual harassment in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, which has been making news ever since. The actress who played Roshan Kaur Sodhi in the sitcom, Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, left the performance and yelled at the producer and his colleagues. She was followed by Monika Bhadoriya, a.k.a. Bawree, who made comparable claims in the media. Additionally, Priya Ahuja Rajda had negative things to say about the atmosphere on the Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah sets.
Asit now made his first response regarding the accusations after previously remaining silent. The producer added in an interview with IANS, “Emotionally I feel sorry because I think of everyone as my own family and I have never done anything wrong with anyone. I have tried to keep everyone happy as I promote happiness through my show. I therefore take care to maintain a cheerful mood on the sets.
Further defending himself, he said, “Despite all the obstacles, the program succeeds, and people who overcome these obstacles thrive in life. Every successful person’s life will be filled with obstacles. Due to the fact that we have never harmed anyone and are sincere at our core, we have accepted all of these obstacles and are tackling them head-on. Because of this, we produce comedy; someone who is negative cannot. Having the support of the crowd and crew is a blessing.
The news of Jennifer’s departure from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah was announced in May of this year. In response to what she claimed to be sexual harassment at work, she filed a complaint against Asit, Project Head Sohail Ramani, and executive producer Jatin Bajaj. She said that the producer had harassed both the late actor who played Nattu Kaka, Ghanshyam Nayak, and her in an interview with PinkVilla. When coping with personal situations like the deaths of her mother and grandmother, Monika noted in interviews how Asit and a few behind-the-scenes team members made it challenging for her.
The 15-year anniversary of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah was on July 28. 28th July 2008 saw the debut of the first episode.
