The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued ‘Orange Alert’ on 22 July, 2023 for 23 July, 2023. Some districts of Maharashtra included Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg are in high alert due to heavy rainfall.

Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister tweeted about the situation specially mentioned Anandnagar village in Mahagaon taluka, where 45 people were stranded. The heavy rain damaged so many houses and forced the people to take shelter on higher ground.
According to PTI, the helicopters are aimed to arrive at Nagpur before Mahagaon for a rescue mission.
