On Wednesday, Bollywood production designer Nitin Chandrakant Desai died in his studio situated in Maharashtra’s Raigad district, police said. He was committed suicide at the age of 58. He had defaulted on Rs. 252 crore of loan and court admitted him a bankruptcy.
According to Hindustan Times reports, BJP general secretary Vinod Tawde, who was a close friend of Nitin Desai said “I used to often speak and counsel him. I had told him on how Amitabh Bachchan had faced immense losses and come back in life again.
We had told him that even if the studio was attached due to loans, he could start afresh. It’s very sad to hear about his death. I spoke to him the day before.”
According to police sources, He founded hanging at his studio in Karjat. The police took that spot on alert. A reason for his death found all angles is currently underway, an official told news agency PTI.
Desai was born on 25 January, 1965 in Dapoli at Maharashtra. He began his career at the television film Tamas (1987) as an assistant art director and later worked on the television series Kabir (1988-1990) as an assistant art director and chanakya (1991)also.
Desai continued his working journey on television series like Bharat Ek Khoj (1992-1993), Kora Kagaz (1993), and Swabhimaan (1995-1996). He debut in Bollywood as an art director from the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) and some other successful Bollywood films are Lagaan (2001), Devdas (2002), Swades (2004), Jodhaa Akbar (2008), and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015).
He was awarded the National Film Award four times for the best art director and three times best filmfare art director. In 2016, he was awarded by Padma Shri (4th highest civilian award in India). His works are praised by the critics and audience a lot.
